Deadlines:Halloween Plays: June 30th (10 plays chosen)30 minutes or less.
We are looking for both obvious and less obvious horror/fright.
Production date is October 2007.
Plays Received: 0 Contest slots open: 150.
Christmas Shorts: June 30th (10 winners chosen)Happy holiday plays.
These should be short and light, or have a happy ending.
Production date is December 2007.

All writers with plays accepted for production will paid at the rate of $35 per play.
We are limiting the number of plays being reviewed per category.
It is suggested to submit any entries early.
Authors of winning plays agree to the following:
To give Pan Theater (and/or its direct successors) the right to produce/stage the plays for an unlimited number of productions for a ten year period. Plays may be added to the Pan Theater revue/repertory series.
Pan Theater Agrees:Pan Theater will pay winning authors $30 per play that wins.
Authors will be entitled to an author comp ticket during the run of their play. This is for play authors only.
Suggestions for submissions:
Have the play read by actors before submitting
Provide some background detail for the actors
All submissions should include a synopsis and character outlinesLimit the number of actors to six at most
The play should be appropriate for a minimalist production style
Review our troupe photo pages- these are the people that will be cast in the plays.
Notes from the winning submissions for 2006:
Only one winning play was over ten pages in length
No play with more than six characters was chosen as a festival winner
Plays requiring extensive props and scenery were not chosen!
Plays requiring music were not chosen
Plays that could not be cast from our actor based (troupes) were not chosen
Each play could be easily summarized in one sentence
Authors followed submission guidelines
Winning plays had strong central relationships
Winning plays had a strong main action/event
Characters were transformed during the play
Plays chosen were easy to produce with minimal scenery/props
Plays were easy to cast from our performing troupes

Information on the structure, goal, history and style of ten minute plays.
Plays will be judged by a panel of local performers, directors, actors, and writers.
Each piece will be rated separately on the following metrics:
Meets performance requirements suggested
Provides strong sense of character, location, and action
Casting description/suggestions is flexible
Story holds interest with discernable and actable objectives
Play is a complete story/scene
Writing is entertaining and provides a scene that will hold audience interest
No submissions from current Pan Theater performers or students will be accepted
All plays will be judged blind without reference to the author or author's previous work
SUBMITTING PLAYS:
We are waiving all submission fees for 2007.
There are no submission fees for plays in 2007.
There is a two play limit per author/per a category.
No more than two plays per category/per author.
Send two copies of each play with the second copy marked reading copy.
No materials are returned/ we do not send out notification emails.
Winners titles/authors are posted to the Web site.
